If you want to improve your English speaking skill, my first option would be to work with a native English speaker as much as possible.
Then, a native English speaker is going to help you to improve your English.
What are you going to give him/her back in exchange?
Like most things in life, you are going to make an exchange in order to improve your English. It’s just a deal between two people.
Let’s see the different kinds of deals you have in your hands if you want to improve your English…
1) Your Money For His/Her English.
It’s when you pay someone to help you to improve your speaking skill. It can be a professional teacher or just a native English speaker who’s looking for money.
-You are paying then you can demand a good level to your partner.
-You decide what you want to work and how often.
-Obviously… you have to spend money.
-If you want to work together very often it can be quite expensive.
2) Your Native Language For His/Her English
It’s when you do a language exchange. You help your partner to learn your native tongue while in return your partner helps you to improve your English.
-It’s an interesting experience because you are both teacher and student at the same time.
-You are not going to work your English all the time. You are going to be working in your native tongue helping your partner half of the time.
3) Your Expertise For His/Her English
It’s when you are a master in something. You help a native English speaker with your expertise while at the same time he/she teaches you English
As an example…You are maybe a master in:
- Playing guitar
- Playing tennis
-You enjoy teaching what you master.
-You have to find a native English speaker interested in learning what you master.
4) You Share An Interest Or Hobby With An English Native
It’s when you find a native English speaker who loves very much a topic or hobby like you.
Then you canalize your friendship through that common interest using the English language.
We assume that your English partner doesn’t mind if your English speaking level is anything but perfect.
-You enjoy and never get tired to talk about your passion or hobby.
-You have to find a native English speaker who‘s also interested in your passion or hobby.
5) You Share A Genuine Friendship With An English Native
Here it’s just friendship. Your friend doesn’t mind about your English level.
You enjoy a genuine friend while at the same time you learn and improve your English.
You can talk about anything and everything like with any other of your current friends.
-A friend is always a treasure.
-You have to always put first your friendship and second your English needs because you don’t want to “use” a friend.
All 5 options are perfect ones if you want to learn and improve your English.
You just have to pick up the one that fits you best!!!
